Work Hours: 10-20 hours/week

General Description:  The Climbing Wall Manager (CWM) serves as one of three student lead staff members for Basecamp. This individual would support the Basecamp Coordinator by overseeing and managing the climbing wall. This job would also function as an opportunity for a student to develop his/her technical skills within the climbing industry, and give experience on managing a staff of about ten to fifteen peers.

Specific Job Responsibilities: The CWM will be responsible for several tasks. These include: recording participation numbers each week, logging bi-weekly inspections on climbing equipment, creating and maintaining a route setting schedule, updating the Rockwall section of the manual, organizing and cleaning the rental cage and climbing areas each week, scheduling staff for special events, co-instructing educational clinics and staff trainings, and other duties as assigned. The CWM must be knowledgeable about other aspects of the program and should serve as a resource to staff.

Qualifications: Preference given to applicants that currently work as a Basecamp staff member, and to employees that have worked for 6 months or longer prior to applying for the position. Previous climbing experience is required. Applicants must be dedicated to improving their technical knowledge, as well as the climbing center itself through creative and critical assessment. Applicants must have a strong work ethic, good interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and be able to handle difficult situations. A climbing wall instructor certification is preferred. Other relevant certifications, field experience and availability will be considered when choosing an applicant.
