Work Hours: 3-20 hours/weekly based on seniority within program

Pay Level: $12

General Description: Basecamp staff will be given opportunities to work at the climbing wall, outdoor equipment rental center, and trips and workshops programs. Basecamp staff will also be Touch of Nature employees and may occasionally be working programs there.

Specific Job Responsibilities: Basic duties consist of the following: rent outdoor equipment to patrons; oversee safe usage of climbing center and equipment; serve as program and event facilitator; utilize computer systems for gear inventory; ensure safe environment in all program areas (rental cage, climbing center, and clinics); and other duties as assigned. Work may involve the performance of heavier physical tasks such as walking over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, working in confined space, lifting or carrying moderately heavy items (20-50 pounds), lifting watercraft and other gear, climbing, and exposure to heights. The work environment may involve exposure to various elements such as chemicals, dust, fumes, cold, heat, noise, vibrations, or dampness, where work exposes the employee to potentially non-disabling injuries. Duties may require that work be performed in adverse weather conditions. Work may require exposure to dangerous equipment and machinery requiring the use of protective clothing or gear.

Qualifications: Applicants must have a strong work ethic, a desire for personal and professional growth, good customer service skills, and a positive attitude. This position is very dynamic and students must be able to adapt quickly in adverse situations. Other relevant certifications, field experience and availability will be considered when choosing an applicant.
