Competitive Sports Supervisor

 Duties

  • Intramural Sports
    • Assist with the coordination of intramural sports leagues, tournaments, and contests.
    • Supervise and manage nightly intramural activities.
    • Train and evaluate intramural sport officials to adjudicate flag football, volleyball, softball, basketball, and soccer contests.
  • Sport Clubs
    • Assist with the management and supervision of the sport club program.
    • Monitor sport club practices, contests, and meetings.
    • Monitor use of RSS and Intercollegiate Athletics facilities.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Complete daily paperwork and reports, specifically preparing score sheets and recording daily Competitive Sports participation.
    • Prepare sport-clubs travel documents for access via Microsoft SharePoint or via travel binders.
    • Communicative with players and sport club members via phone, e-mail, and face to face conversation.
    • Assist with the management and maintenance of the Competitive Sports equipment inventory.
    • Assist the Coordinator of Competitive Sports and RSS Marketing in the promotion and marketing of Competitive Sports activities.
    • Assist the Coordinator of Competitive Sports with the creation and delivery of sports-specific training for sport officials.
    • Cover the front desk in the RSS Administrative Office as required.
  • General
    • Supervise RSS and Competitive Sports special events.
    • Attend all Competitive Sports training and meetings as required.
    • Enforce Competitive Sports, RSS, and Intercollegiate Athletics policies and procedures.
    • Complete other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification
  • A general knowledge of the SIU Competitive Sports program
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective customer service, conflict management, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with others

Preferred Qualifications/Skills

  • Sports Officiating Experience
  • Familiarity with or ability to learn IMLEAGUES, Fusion, Jot Form, and Google online software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong attention to detail
