Position Summary
The Student Custodian position consists of assisting the Building Sub-Foreman with maintaining cleanliness of the Student Recreation Center. Responsibilities are evenly distributed by our Building Sub-Foreman based upon the number of student workers on duty. This position requires early morning hours starting as early as 6:00 a.m. and concluding as late as 11:00 p.m. Morning hours consist of any 2–3hr. timeframe students are available to work between the hours of 6:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Evening hours consist of working 8:00 – 11:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Weekend hours are flexible and based upon the needs of the facility. Responsibilities
A. Assist the Building Sub-Foreman with dust and wet mopping floors/exercise mats, vacuuming entrance rugs and workout spaces w/artificial turf, emptying trash and recyclables, wiping down/disinfecting workout equipment, wiping down mirrors, wiping down windows and window ledges, as well as daily maintenance of our restrooms and locker rooms.
B. Maintain restroom and locker room cleanliness dust and wet mopping floors, cleaning mirrors, sinks, toilets, urinals, and partitions.
C. Maintain cleanliness of stairwells and hallways dust and wet mopping floors, wiping down exercise equipment on Upper Track, East Gym and Fitness Alley Hallway, disinfecting water fountains, day use lockers, handrails, entrance doors, and other surfaces as assigned.
D. Maintain cleanliness of Administrative Office and Lounges vacuuming floors, dusting furniture, emptying trash, wiping down windows, doors, walls, and other surfaces as assigned.
E. Assist with Special Event Setups (e.g. track meets, swim meets, open house events, and reserved spaces throughout Student Recreation Center)
Qualifications and Conditions of Employment
A. Must possess the physical strength and stamina to perform required work (e.g. periodic lifting or moving of equipment 30lbs or more.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A. Communicate effectively with supervisor, co-workers, fellow students, and community patrons.
B. Demonstrate ability to use custodial supplies and cleaning equipment.
C. Demonstrate ability to complete work related tasks as assigned by Building Sub-Foreman.
D. Demonstrate ability to communicate facility related issues of concern (e.g. toilet/urinal overflowing or not flushing, pipe(s) leaking, excessive spills, or hazardous conditions such as presence of bodily fluids).
E. Demonstrate ability to work in supervised group settings.
