Join us for our first run/walk event dedicated to raising awareness about Rock Steady Boxing & Parkinson's. Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative disorder that affects areas of the brain causing symptoms such as tremors, slowness, and limb stiffness. At the SIU Rec Center we are able to provide a program called Rock Steady Boxing where participants actively fight against these symptoms. Through our run/walk event at campus lake, we will be donating all proceeds directly back to our Rock Steady Boxing program. Donated funds are used to help purchase new equipment as well as potentially offering free classes for participants. This event is 2.2 miles and will be held at Becker Pavilion and Campus Lake.
